Fair Haired Child

Sorry for the lapse in posts! It feels as though we have been busy and lazy at the same time! We are still very much enjoying our summer break. Papa organized a very lucrative yard sale this month. We managed to snag some cash and get rid of about 90% of the clutter in the basement! We also traveled to Greenwood to eat dinner with the Dillard family. We had a very nice time chatting with Matt and Gretchen while Bella enjoyed the company of Delaney and Carson. Bella and I have traveled to Marion on a few occasions to hang out with Nana and Gpa, and Grandpa and Granny-Great. Here is a picture of our little flower child on one such visit.

She loves picking all of Granny-Great's flowers while we are on the back porch. Thankfully, she doesn't seem to mind!

We have also enjoyed some lazy days at home, which gives us a chance to catch up on cleaning and just spend some time unwinding. On these occasions, Bella's favorite attire is a pajama onesie and Papa's Italia hat. We can't get it off her head! I think that if the convent doesn't pan out, Bella will have a very good future with the mob. Doesn't it just look like she's saying, "Rocco, where's my cheese samwich?"

This summer has marked the beginning of the world-famous Basso Stables. In addition to Buttercup, the horse Bella acquired at Christmas, we are now the proud owners of Trigger and Seabiscuit. Gpa found those two ponies and decided that Bella desperately needed them. Here is a picture of the inaugural ride on Trigger (or is that Seabiscuit?).

On Friday, we traveled to Danville High School to see Uncle Charlie march in the band. He is the middle tuba player in the picture below. Bella really liked the music and did quite a bit of dancing, until she got bored. Then she and Nonie picked "flowers." A cute aside: Bella calls Charlie "Crocky", as it seems she is having a hard time pronouncing Charlie.

On Sunday, we went to the Hendricks County 4-H fair with the Elser family. It was extremely nice and hands down the best fairground I've ever visited. The kids were able to get right up to the animals and the crowds were manageable. We have definitely added this fair to the tradition list for our family. Below is a pic of Bella with her future husband, Nolan. I think the two of them enjoyed the horses the most. Bella didn't seem afraid at all, even when the horses came up to the fence. She stretched her little hands out and wanted to pet them so badly!
I just had to add this picture at the end. This is typical after we've been taking a lot of pictures of her. Do you think this will come out in therapy some day?
